I dyed a skein of sock yarn with dandelion, trying to attempt a yellow.
The palest parts on this skein are the dandelion dyed which resemble an ecru colour.
I guess I have used too little dye material for the 100 grams yarn, so it did not get that intense.
So I stirred up some yellow and orange easter egg colours and spiced up parts of the skein.
It looks very summery now, just like fruit sherbet.
Hope the socks will be looking nice, I plan to knit up from this.
Right now there are washcloths and cat toys on the needles and the occasional spin on sock yarn out of the 95 grams of black and white roving I was given by Holly.
On my CD spindle there is a light brown and green with blue roving, I try to spin as thin as the spindle allows.
I try to ply it with a still to be spun cotton to make a not so warm thin thread for a summer scarf for biking.
Any Ideas on spinning cotton? I have never done it and the fluff in the bad terrifies me a little, I wonder wether there will be success in turning it into string :-)

sweet liddle tidietat has new blankie
I knitted a blanket for Siri out of the first wheelspun and she likes it a lot, snoozing on it at present.
She barely looked up for the picture :-)
It is strange to be working from the own spun yarn, and the thick and thin texture made me worry it will not lay flat, but the loose gauge on a 6 mm needle and the finish of double crochet on a 7 mm needle made a nice little blankie out of the string.

second wheel
This is me, trying out the wheel in Duisburg.
We were not sure if it was functional, but it proved to be just that.
It is pretty fast, and I was able to produce the most even string on it so far.
Now to more practise on the borrowed Louet.
It is a S10 by the way, and It is fun to hear the clicks of the joinend driveband and see the thread forming and the twist wandering up.
Very soothing to the senses.
If it is the same for the people living under us, I can not tell, but I sure hope they would come tell me if it was too annoying.

hand-spun-yarn
my first wheel spun 'skunk' colourway.
I am amazed at the learning curve which can be seen in the thickness of the started single to the second one I then plied with it.
On the thinnest parts it is a thin fingering weight, and on the bigger parts, it is a bulky.
Part of it will be knitted up into a kittie blanke, and the rest will be kept in a skein to look at and compare with future spinning progress.
A Friend with many wheels let me borrow her Louet for a while, and also gave me lots of fiber to play with.
There will be many more skeins in the future, I guess, and all fiber related income will be saved up for a wheel of my own.
Maybe after the crafty exhibit in July it is not far away, to get it ;-)
So I dont have to worry about going 'cold turkey' if I return the Louet.
I had a try at an old wheel my friend's grammy has as a decoration piece, and we were able to make it spin a fine thread, but it really is creaky and loud, but maybe it was me not treadling right on it, since the footman had a longish hole and making it go round in one direction only was not the easiest.
You will see it in a different post, if flickr finally allows me to upload the pictures.

Now I know why I miss her so much recently
On the phone with my sis a few minutes ago I heard of the passing of my beloved mini Schnautzer "MAXI".
She was born on Aug 3. in 1991, around 11 o clock.
I know so well because I helped her into life, her and her brother "MOPPEL"
there was a third puppy, but it did not make it and I was grieving a long time about the little one back then.
If I manage to digitize a picture of her, I will see if I can add it on here.
She was getting old, deaf and blind, but was well together, from what I have been told, she must have slipped on the foil of the garden pond while wanting a drink and drowned.
This is not my fahters house and garden, but the ex-boyfriends, and I dont miss him a bit, but my little girl I missed every day we were apart.
I am glad, she is at a better place now, and can hopefully be in peace, since the ex is not a very caring, pet loving person, but rather one who provides material needs, but did never bond with her.
This must have happened around three weeks ago, and dad told my sister about it, but since he and I are not on communication terms, he did not tell me.
April will never be the same for me any more, knowing she left us then.
I will always remember her kisses, and how she looked after the shearing, and how much prescious time we had together before I separated.
I was heartbroken to leave her behind, but she just is an outside dog who needs a big garden to dig around in, and I could not provide that to her, so I left her where she was born, and knew everything.
Lebe wohl liebe MAXI und sei Dir sicher, ich vermisse Dich und hoffe, da wo Du jetzt bist geht es Dir gut.
